There is no difference between the personal me and the working me. Everything you see in one, you will find in the other. I have been a fortunate soul to be endowed with the gifts that permeate my existence in all that I do.
As a photographer, and as a human being walking this earthly journey, my quest is the same: to do what I can do make the world a better place for every [thing] on this planet: human beings, nature, it is all intertwined for me, and to allow one to suffer I believe causes all to suffer.
I am, however, more than a visual storyteller; I tell my stories through every format… every genre that will lend itself to my needs. I believe that the world can be healed through stories by healing the human element first. In healing us we can then heal all.
I am also a deep-thinker. I embrace the open dialog of other thinkers. My willingness to drink in their thoughts provides me with insights that expand, and at times contradict my own - and this is where true discovery, and a fuller understanding takes place.
As I embark on a journey into SubStack I find myself eager to experiment with the writings that I post. I anticipate a liberation in my writing - not always, but certainly availing itself for times when it is needed - or simply inspired.
As a photographer my desire is to capture humanity in its most authentic form. This is one of the things I love about the portrait; when done right it captures the authenticity of the subject. Through my public lectures I am able to combine my words, audibly - sometimes combining them with the photographic image.
Through my podcast series I am able to isolate my audible words, using the words themselves to replace the camera in creating imagery.
And through the video format - both live, as well as recorded, I am able to incorporate the visual elements of both the still, and the motion images, along with the audible dialog - both with, and without the inclusion of my physical presence; each providing a different way for the viewer’s mind to take in the content.
We live in an amazing time - a time when the world seems to be in shambles that are destined to crumble into the utter darkness of an inescapable hopelessness; yet on the other hand I see a world that is anything but this abyss of darkness, and hopelessness. I see, instead, a world that has much to be hopeful for, and a world where we - as individuals, as well as collectives, can turn it around.
It is during this time that we live in now that we must insist on authenticity. We must insist on the truth in all things. It is through this transparency of authenticity that we will acquire the information needed to right this ship - and to crumble the current paradigms of hatred, and anger.
Join me on this journey of exploration where we will embark on adventures into the realms of hope, and of possibilities. I welcome all dialog, as long as it is respectful - whether it is an opinion on something I have presented, or something completely off the board.
